Cockatoos are in the parrot family and are known for being very intelligent, highly social and very noisy. They can have survival times of 50-70 years, so proper planning when you adopt a cockatoo is essential, in the event they outlive their owners.

Fred
Fred is a senior cockatoo who came to us in December 2025, after his owners were moving to a retirement home that does not allow outdoor pets. He has lived alone most of his adult life, and loves to climb his cage and look out at the scenery. His favorite treats are peanuts and walnuts. We took him in so he could live in his retirement home at our sanctuary.
